BNTVA Manchester Memorial

The memorial in St Peters Square Manchester is the first memorial to be included in the nucleartest.online virtual museum. As this project grows every memorial to our Nuclear Test Veterans across the United Kingdom will enter the museum. Within each hall will be galleries of images, testimonies and videos telling the local story of the development of our Nuclear Weapons and the price paid by our Veterans and their families.

This memorial was unveiled on 5th October 2017 by local veteran Terry Washington in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Manchester and other dignitaries. The original memorial was moved to make way for the cities tram system has been mounted on a new plinth and placed beside the Cenotaph in the city centre.

It is the first British Nuclear Test Veterans memorial to feature a QR Code link to the Nuclear Community Charity Fund’s Virtual Museum.
